Dublin-born, violist Lucy Nolan divides her time between her work as a chamber musician and teacher. In 2006, she, with violinist Jonathan Martindale and cellist Peggy Nolan formed the Eblana String Trio, which enjoys a busy concert schedule performing in venues such as the Wigmore Hall, the Purcell Room, St John Smith Square and the Bridgewater Hall. They have been broadcast on numerous occasions on BBC Radio 3 and have recently released an album of British String Trios, the King’s Alchemist to critical acclaim. The members of the trio were inaugural Junior Fellows of Chamber Music at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, are former Park Lane Young Artists and CMF Artists. Lucy is also a member of Amika, a string quartet specialising in crossover and contemporary approaches. Amika has collaborated with artists such as Alfa Mist, Jordan Rakei, Alice Zawadzki, Rob Luft and Tom Walker to name a few. Aside from her chamber ensembles, Lucy performs and tours frequently with both Manchester Collective and Manchester Camerata.
Lucy is a committed teacher and currently holds positions at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and the Royal Northern College of Music. Lucy has been involved with all things Arco since 2015. She has taught students from both the Soweto and India projects, has travelled to South Africa a number of times and has been involved in planning festivals, fundraising and more.
