Claudia Dehnke

Teaching and Learning Manager

South African-born Claudia Dehnke is a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, where she obtained an MA with distinction, studying with Tomotada Soh and Nicole Wilson, having previously studied with Jan Repko, Oliver Wille and Stephan Picard.

As a student, Claudia was the recipient of the Leverhulme Trust Scholarship and Abe Bailey Scholarships, and is a Harrison Frank Family Foundation Artist.

Claudia enjoys working in chamber music groups across many genres, performing with the London Mozart Players, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group NEXT, I Musicanti and the Ubuntu Ensemble, led by Leon Bosch. She has also recorded a number London premieres of new works for BBC Radio 3.

Claudia teaches violin at First Strings Experience experience at Junior Royal Academy of Music since 2020, and is the lead teacher for Community FSE. Claudia has been a violin teacher with the ARCO Project for many years, and currently works as the Teaching and Learning Manager, delivering String Pedagogy sessions, mentoring and facilitating lessons every week. Claudia is particularly interested in connections between Critical Race Theory and String Pedagogy and increasing representation in educational resources.
